View and inspect DXF drawings

Open a DXF drawing, inspect model and paper layouts, toggle layers and check the geometry actually parsed from the file. Supported edits can be exported through a genuine DXF writer; verify the exported result before relying on it.

Inspect and export DXF

Inspect layers, blocks and supported attached attributes. Basic native edits use the drawing database. DXF export is blocked when reported unsupported source entities or unresolved references would make the operation unsafe; a successful export is still not a promise of full round-trip fidelity.

What stays on your device

Open Drawing reads your selected file using local JavaScript and WebAssembly. The viewer has no drawing-upload or cloud-storage endpoint. It fetches its own code, fonts, parser assets and optional public samples. Source restoration, saved reviews and measurements use browser storage. Clear local data in Settings or clear the browser’s site data after exporting anything you need, especially on a shared device.

Compatibility and limitations

Support varies by file version and entity. Splines, leaders, external references, proxy or dynamic entities and engineering fonts may differ or be missing. The current release does not write DWG and does not claim complete AutoCAD compatibility. DXF, PDF and images can differ from the source. Independently verify engineering-critical dimensions and deliverables.

How to use it

  1. Open the viewer and choose Open Drawing to select a DWG or DXF file on this device.
  2. Read any parser or missing-font notices and choose the required layer or layout.
  3. Use the guide’s viewing, measurement, review or export tool and check the result against the source.
  4. Export what you need. Review data is separate from the original file; save supported DXF edits before refreshing.

Questions and answers

Is my drawing uploaded?

The current application parses selected drawings locally and provides no drawing-upload endpoint. Browser requests still retrieve application assets and any public sample you choose.

Can it save a DWG file?

No. DWG writeback is currently unavailable. Supported DXF export, PDF and image output are available subject to the source drawing and the tool’s limitations.

Does opening a file prove full compatibility?

No. Detection, parsing and faithful display are different checks. Inspect fonts, references, entities and layouts, and verify important results in suitable professional CAD software.

Will saved records follow me to another domain?

No. IndexedDB and localStorage are scoped to the browser origin. Export and transfer the required review data before moving to another device, browser or origin.
